"We could conserve much more land if we had more volunteers willing to help us with our work load." Tin Smith, 2002 Volunteer Training

Whether you have a little or a lot of free time to give, we want and need your help getting Land Trust business done. Great Works Regional Land Trust was founded by volunteers in 1986. Today, volunteers continue that tradition, providing conseravtion options to landowners, raising funds and awareness in support of conservation initiatives, managing lands which have been entrusted in our care.

We have the following volunteer position openings, send an email to the volunteer program coordinator now to ask for more information about your area of interest below:

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Stewardship: The Trust needs volunteers to help monitor the conservation status of Trust owned land and properties for which the Trust holds easements. (Typically properties are visited at least one time annually.)

Field Surveys and Baseline Data Collection: Although not regularly scheduled, volunteers are needed periodically to help conduct field surveys, i.e., watershed, water quality or habitat assessments; and document features of properties for which the Land Trust holds an easement. (The time commitment for these projects will vary from ½ to full day assignments. Depending on the area size of a project, baseline data collection can be completed in as little a part of a day, as opposed to fields surveys, which may occur on an ongoing basis over a short or long period of time.)

Speaking Presentations: Volunteers are needed to present information about current projects to local organizations. Presentations are 30-45 minutes long, and materials and accompanying equipment will be provided. (This requires volunteers spend a few hours, on your own, to become familiar with the presentation.)

Festivals & Events: Volunteers interact with the public and staff display table at community events and festivals throughout the summer and early fall. (This requires a 2-4 hour commitment. Days and times will vary-mostly weekends.)

Mt. Agamenticus Challenge Road Race – September annually: Many volunteers are needed for this event on the day-of, but also throughout the year working on Race sponsorship, publicity, and logistics.

Office Support and Committee Work: Volunteers are needed to help our board get things done.

Administration-office: (mail collection/log, database updates, mailings, etc.)

Development Committee: (communication, fundraising, membership, volunteers)

Project Committee: (Please write current Trust project or town of interest)

Stewardship Committee: (planning field work)
