Why contribute?

We invite you to join Great Works Regional Land Trust and support Great Works as an individual, business or organization, and family. Great Works Regional Land Trusthelps us to protect those places that make our home special.

We monitor the properties we own and on which we hold conservation easements. We pay property taxes. We maintain trails on several properties and are working on making more of our properties accessible with signed trails and parking.

This requires robust support to cover our expenses: maintaining skilled staff, communicating with landowners and town leaders, facilitating surveys, and providing wonderful hikes and programs. We inform the public and our members via three newsletters/year, our website and email, as well as participating in community festivals.

2014 Annual Fund Appeal

Now!

The end of the year is approaching but there is still plenty of time to donate to your favorite causes. So, before the snow blankets the trails, please consider making a year-end donation in any amount. This will afford Great Works to continue to do the lasting work that they do in conserving open land for all of us to enjoy 365 days a year! Thank you for your time and generosity. -Amy & Bob Picotte of Moody, ME

We hope you appreciate Great Works enough to move it to the top of your list. Over the years we have worked to conserve approximately 5,400 acres in our six communities, protecting scenic values, farmland and vital watersheds, and creating recreational opportunities. Your gift now will help:

Gifts of Securities & Real Estate

Donation of securities such as stocks or bonds can be made with the assistance of the Land Trust's Development Coordinator. Gifts of appreciated securities benefit the donor in two ways: the full-market value of the securities is tax-deductible, and if the securities have appreciated in value, capital gains taxation can be avoided.

Property can be costly to maintain and difficult to sell and, if it has appreciated, its sale can result in significant capital gains taxes. A gift of land to the Land Trust provides the donor with a charitable deduction for the full value of the property and removes the land from the donor's taxable estate.
