Who Tells the Story: A Native Perspective on New England’s Founding

Join us and Old Berwick Historical Society at at Brooks Farm Wildlife Preserve in Berwick hikers can enjoy views of Mount Agamenticus, the sweeping meadows of a once active farm, and the chattering waters of Worster Brook. OBHS curator Nina Maurer will explore the devastating and heroic events of the Salmon Falls raid of 1690, the pivotal standoff at Worster Brook, and the alliances that shaped a region.

Corresponding Lecture: Lecture October 26, 7:30 p.m.: Lisa Brooks compares English and Native narratives about the outbreak of conflict in the 1670s, known as King Philip’s War. *All OBHS/GWRLT History Hikes include a corresponding lecture. This lecture will happen 1-2 weeks ahead of the hike.

RSVP as numbers are limited. It's always wise to confirm date, location and footgear recommendations. Free to members, suggested donation of $5 ($10/family) for non-members.

Parking is in the upper farm field of Brooks Farm. Just past Brooks Lane on Route 9 (School Street, Berwick), our right of way will be on your left. Look for our hike-today sign and a Great Works board member directing you up the right of way to the parking.
